Reminder: All Early Years Providers - Check Eligibility of Working Parent Entitlement Codes
As we approach the halfway point of spring term 2025, it's important to check and validate codes ahead of a child taking up a place.
This requirement is set out in the Early Education and Childcare statutory guidance. The guidance includes the following statement: "Local Authorities must ensure parents and providers are aware that the eligibility code must be verified by either the local authority or provider, before a child can take up the working parent entitlement."
Why is this important?
- Ensures the provider receives funding for that place
- Ensures a parent can take up a place for their child and understand their monthly childcare costs
- Provides an early indication of whether parents can find and take up a place
- Provides early indication of potential sufficiency issues within the local area
