Local Authority data collection for providers

News

On entry assessment: Start Well no longer collect on entry data for children in Bolton. Early Years providers. Leaders and Managers should determine how best to capture information to support a relevant and appropriate EYFS offer for the children in their care.

School reception class teachers must complete the statutory baseline assessment and return the information via a Department for Education (DfE) portal: 2022 Reception baseline assessment: assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

School reception class teachers (including Independent schools and special schools), and any practitioner working with a reception age child in setting, will complete an EYFS profile at the end of the reception year - Refer to page 19 of the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (publishing.service.gov.uk).  This will be collected by Bolton Local Authority in June 2023 (handbook not yet published).

Every Local Authority has a statutory duty to maintain Early Education and Childcare Sufficiency Data to determine if there is enough provision to meet demand.

To establish a full and accurate set of information, the process will be supported by a telephone call to settings and schools to ask about capacity and vacancies.

This will be repeated termly in Autumn, Spring and Summer. You will be receiving information about the questions initially, then be contacted by a member of the Families Information Service or Start Well Administrator team. Please complete the exercise when contacted.  You can arrange a date and time to suit you.
