FAO: Education, Early Years, Children’s Care and Foster Carers - Message from the Directorate of Public Health in Bolton - Lynn Donkin, Consultant in Public Health.

Dear Colleagues,

We wanted to share a short note for information in light of the Met Office's National Severe Weather Warning Service having issued a Red Extreme Heat Warning for Monday and Tuesday.

The latest forecast received this morning indicates extreme heat building from Saturday and peaking Monday and Tuesday.

In line with the National Heatwave Plan, alert systems and cascades are activated to provide advice and information for the public and professionals, particularly those working with at-risk groups. This includes both general preparation for hot weather, and more specific advice for a severe heatwave for vulnerable groups including children.

Please find below a range of range of guidance is available you may find useful for looking after children and those in early years settings during a heatwave:
