Guidance: Safeguarding children and protecting professionals in early years settings: online safety considerations for managers Publication date: 4 February 2019

A document for practitioners in early years settings has been published by the Government advising how to help protect children and adults online. Internet enabled devices are a part of everyday life for young children and therefore as early years practitioners we should ensure safe use of online education. The document ‘Online safety guidance for practitioners’ is aimed at early years Managers and Practitioners, including wrap around care for the early years age groups. It will help to ensure that online safeguarding practice is inline with statutory requirements and best practice.

The guidance highlights some of the potential risks for children when children and adults are engaging in online activities.  There are startegies to minimise risk and the document also includes a list of resources for settings to use for educational purposes as well as resources that can be shared with parents and carers.

Further information and the full guidance can be accessed here.
