Last chance to join the Early Years Professional Development Partnership (EYPDP)

Start Well Logo 750x500

An online course for early years practitioners.

We have had a little more information through from the Education Development Trust about how the programme will run now the decision has been made to run it as an online course.  The commitment is for 2 practitioners per setting, although we can arrange for them to be in different groups if you cannot release them at the same time.  We will need both participants to be able to access technology to allow them to view recorded training and take part in group discussion.

Supply cover is £130 per day. The commitment needs to be until January 2022. If you are interested, let us know the names and email contact details of the 2 practitioners.  Please can you complete the expression of interest form by Monday 30th November and return it to: startwellbookings@bolton.gov.uk by the end of the day.

What is involved in the Programme?

1.  Strand 2: Language & Literacy for 2–4s (LL2–4). Successful completion of this will result in a Level 3 qualification. To achieve this you will have to commit to:

  • Completing 12 e-learning modules introducing the ‘theory’ based elements of the content.
  • Attending 12 60-minute webinar sessions led by Tutor Champions between Jan 2021 and Apr 2021. Exceptional absences can be managed.
  • Completing a Level 3 Learning Log. This will involve observation of children, reflecting on practice and writing assignments. While most assignments involve using strategies in their setting. You will need to allow enough time to plan and write up a Level 3 Learning Log following each of the webinars.
  • Submitting the Learning Log (which must be completed to gain accreditation) in a timely fashion within the time frames set by the Tutor Champion (it is anticipated that these will be completed by the end of May 2021). This must be adhered to strictly for the Programme to be completed successfully.
  • Engaging with a Community of Practice on a half-termly basis (May 2021 – Feb 2022) to share practice with other practitioners and support one another to embed the knowledge gained throughout the Programme.

2.  Completing the optional online Mathematics Module. This will involve:

  • Undertaking up to four hours of online training at any point during the Programme between January 2021 and February 2022. You can progress through at your own pace, where and when suits you best. The module is not a test of maths, and you will not be formally assessed at any point in this aspect of the training. Instead, the activities are designed to enable you to check their own progress, identify areas of strength and areas in which you may want to seek additional support.

3.  Strand 3: Communication Friendly Settings (CFSe). This will involve committing to:

  • Attending 3 x half-day online seminars, led by Mentor Champions in May, September and November 2021. Preparing information to share with others in the seminars regarding evidence of impact.
  • Cascading CFSe Communication Counts (5 x 1-hour sessions) to all staff in your setting between May 2021 and December 2021.

One EYP from each setting will go on to embed the learning in their setting, completing a Level 4 Learning Log. You therefore may not need to complete this last activity but this would involve committing to:

  • Completing a Level 4 Learning Log by January 2022.
  • Visiting another setting for a half-day at the end of the process to audit implementation in January 2022.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.
