Description
The Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) qualification is for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner or Early Years Teaching Assistant in reception, or a private, voluntary or independent setting. All early years providers are required to have arrangements in place to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to promote equality of opportunity for children in their care.
This is an important role to ensure the best possible educational outcomes are achieved for children with SEND.
Criteria
To undertake this qualification, you need to hold a Level 3 Early Years EYE qualification, or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and be in employment within the Early Years/Education Sector.
What will I learn?
This qualification aims to:
- Explore the role and responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in an early years setting.
- Understand the strategies and techniques for supporting children and their families.
- Increase knowledge of SEND codes of practice.
- Assist you in engaging in SENCO role by completing tasks in setting.
Fees
The course fees are £225 and are payable upon enrolment to Bolton College (please apply using the link above). If your employer is paying for this course on your behalf, please provide a letter on letter headed paper from your employer confirming their agreement to pay for the course when you come to enrol. The college will then send an invoice to your employer.
Bolton College currently allow you to opt to pay course fees in monthly instalments. You can set this up during the enrolment.

Course Delivery
This course takes place onsite at Bolton College from 29th February 2024 for a duration of 12 weeks (ends 13th June 2024). Classes are held in the evening from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.
You will study two mandatory units - assessment based writing and reflective writing is required. Each assignment for the two units are available electronically and must be submitted online on or before the submission dates provided by your tutor.
